Hello Blog Fam! I'm back again.

Simply, Reasons to Smile is back again with a new look by: Kelly Christine

I hope everyone is having a great start to fall and getting ready for all the holidays coming up! My last post on here was at the end of {baseball} season when Carter and I were living out in the Chicago area. His team ended up getting 1st in their division but lost in the series before the championship. Overall, it was a great year with awesome people and we had a good time. Now, for all you baseball fans, it looks like the Chicago Cubs are in the World Series, I hope they win! It has been over a 100 years since they last won it... they deserve it AND have the team capable of doing it.
As for us, we packed up our car and headed out west in Mid-September. It took us about a week to get home and we stopped in some pretty cool spots on the way...

Cities we stayed in // Places we went:

1. First stop was Des Moines, Iowa
This was a place we stopped at on the way to Chicago and on our way back because we have family friends that live there. It worked out great both times because since they were in town and able to spend some time with us even though it was so last minute!

2. Rapid City, South Dakota
This was a place we wanted to check out because there was something historical in that area... Mount Rushmore National Memorial. It was A-MAZ-ING. Not only was it a beautiful day but the place itself was incredible and unlike anything else I've seen. If you haven't been there I definitely recommend going. They have a great area to walk around in and different nature places to see. The Black Hills National Forest {where it is located} is a great area in itself.

3. Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
This was a place I learned about wayyyy back in elementary school. I've always heard it was an awesome place but once again, I've never been. We drove through southern Wyoming on our way out east but never really stopped to check places out. On our way home we knew this was a place we wanted to stop. Most of all, we both wanted to check out Old Faithful. I'm so happy we did and once again, I recommend traveling out here for another trip or place to see! We even found a small ranch to stay at just outside of the National Park. Staying there made that trip even better. It felt like we were truly camping and exploring the outdoors, not to mention we had absolutely no cell reception, yes thats right 0% {for Verizon + AT&T}.

4. Last stop was at the border of Idaho + Oregon
We were originally going to try and make it through Montana and Washington but at this point we were ready to get back. So we decided after leaving Yellowstone we would head back home, stopping we wanted and just see how far we could make it. There was even a time when we thought about driving through the night and not stopping until we made it. But, we had a feeling that it would be dangerous and decided it wasn't worth it. *Note to everyone: PLEASE don't drive late at night when you're tired. We saw quite a few accidents on our way out and on our trip back.

That next day, we made it home and actually surprised our friends and family. It felt good to be home and back out west. I love traveling and seeing new places but I'll always be a west coast girl.
Now that I'm home and have settled down I can't wait to get back into my blogging lifestyle. I have so much to share with y'all about everything I've been up to AND whats coming up later this month and into the holidays.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween!
